Is Happiness a Choice?

Today I want to share something very intimate with you, something of mine that nobody knew.

Several years ago, I started an experiment on myself.

The experiment consists of constantly observing and analyzing the thoughts I have throughout the day. Often, I even observe the thoughts I have while listening to other people.

This has allowed me to discover something that worries me a lot, which is that I spend most of my time thinking about potential problems and I invest very little time in creating memorable moments.

If I had to pick a percentage, I would say that I spend 90% of my life worrying and only 10% of it feeling the moment.

By reading several books about the evolution of the human body, I discovered that I’m not the only one who spends most of my time worrying.

Now, what's the problem?

The problem is that in a few years I will be old, and I want to live my old age with the certainty of having lived my youth to the fullest.

Bronnie Ware, a nurse who has taken care of many terminally ill patients, wrote an article called "Regrets of the Dying".

In the article, she shared the most common regrets among people who are experiencing their last moments before ascending to heaven.

Among these we have.

I wish I'd had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.

I wish I'd had the courage to express my feelings.

But the regret that amazes me the most is this: I wish that I had let myself be happier.

Many did not realize until the end that happiness is a choice.
